Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth (third molars) are a set of four teeth that erupt in the gums in the back four corners of the mouth between the ages of 17 and 25.

For many people, wisdom teeth fail to surface completely, causing complications, pain and swelling. They either partially emerge, grow sideways or remain trapped underneath the gum and bone and become entirely impacted (no room to erupt in the gum bed). This places a considerable force on surrounding teeth and bone structure, creating irritation and the crowding and misalignment of existing teeth.

The best treatment for impacted wisdom teeth is to remove them, especially if they have potential to be problematic. Impacted teeth are known breeding grounds for bacteria, promoting infection and irritation.

Schedule a consultation at Main Street Dental today if you are experiencing any pain or complications with your wisdom teeth. Additionally, we can assess the current status of your child's wisdom teeth to detect issues early.
